Fallen Ash Farms Scout's Apache Promise - Promise is the stunning daughter of L & D Scout and the beautiful mare 4G Generations Apache Enchanment. Both are pinto and they blessed their daughter, Promise, with the black and white pinto coloring that allowed her to be crowned the 1997 National Champion Color Mare. She also won the honor of 1997 National Reserve Champion Mare - Youth 13 to 17 Years Old.
Promise picked my daughter, Meghan, out at the 1997 Miniature Event Sale and after a long bidding struggle, she joined our family and a special bond was formed between the two.
As her show career made way to her broodmare career, she excelled again.
Promise is the mother of my special Uno son, Westwind Farms I Promised Revenge
and another up and coming colt named Westwind Farms A Grande Promise I Am.
Grande was sired by the beautiful stallion, Britt Helm Grande I Am owned by
Mallory and Shana Fagan. He will start breeding in 2007 and will be in the show
ring within a few years.
Sadly, Grande was Promise's last live foal. In April 2006, Promise went into
labor over two months early and she was trying to deliver a dead foal. The foal
was malpresented and under anesthesia at Michigan State University Vet Hospital,
she delivered a beautiful gray pinto dead colt sired by Attitude. The foal had
moved around so much that he twisted his cord over and over until the
circulation was cut off and he died in utero. There was so much trauma to
Promise's birth canal that granulation tissue formed and basically, she can
never conceive or deliver a foal again.
Promise will be staying at Westwind Farms and may end up being a show horse for
my grandchildren one day. She will be a permanent fixture here!
